The distribution company decide where and how you will be connected to the grid.
-
-
They then send a team to dig the trench and lay a conduit pipe.
-
A curved pipe called a hockey stick connects the conduit to the meter box which must be in position before they start. This is the last part placed by the excavation team.
-
-
The mains cable is live when spliced to join the new connection. Another team do this.
-
Big rubber gloves are worn when the connection is made. The join is embedded in a case which is filled with a 2 part putty.
-
The connection team connect the live cable to the head unit.

I fitted a decent consumer unit so that it can be used with the final supply too. Bit of an over kill for a tempoary supply. There is also an 80A isolator and single external socket. It is ready for the 3rd stage of the electicity install.
-
Ready for the meter.
-
Third stage is for Western Power to fit the meter supplier by SWEB. This was then connected to my isolator switch.

Pavement filled in.
